Asking The Wrong Question

I’ve been watching John Brennan, outgoing CIA head and known liar who used the CIA to spy on Senators (see Appendix). He’s been getting interviewed about recent political events. Unfortunately, they didn’t ask him the right question.

Here’s the story so far. Trump met recently with the very top three intelligence officials, who are the DNI (Director of National Intelligence) and the heads of the CIA and FBI. After the meeting, CNN reported that the intelligence chiefs had given him an unverified salacious piece of disinformation. It was a bogus document that had been originally commissioned by Trump’s Republican opponents some months ago during the primary elections, and then passed on to his Democratic opponents after he got the nomination.

A number of news organizations had access to this piece of disinformation over the period of the campaign. As you might imagine, they all did their very best to try to confirm it. It would have been a bombshell … but in the event, not one of them was able to get even one single “second-source” for the document, someone who could independently verify the claims made in the bogus “dossier”. Not one. There was and is nothing to back it up. So as responsible news organizations, they didn’t print it.

In addition, the “IC”, which I’ve learned is the acronym for the “Intelligence Community”, was also unable to find a single second-source for this garbage.

(As an aside, this makes it very strange to me that this nonsense would be part of a highest-level briefing. There are hundreds of pieces of disinformation like this floating around at any instant. The proper thing to do would be to pass them to the incoming White House legal counsel or someone like that. But I digress, back to the story …)

In response to the CNN piece, a low-life so-called “news” site called “BuzzFeed” printed the actual document complete with all of the scandalous scurrilous sensational lies. Since then it has been totally discredited, as has BuzzFeed.

In response Trump tweeted:

When asked about this accusation against the intelligence agencies today, John Brennan gave the same answer other intelligence officials have given. They said no, you couldn’t pin the leak of the bogus “dossier” on the intelligence community, because that piece of garbage had been in the public for some months. And you’d have to say yes, that’s true. Anyone could have leaked it into the public domain.

So … why is this asking the wrong question?

Well, think about the whole chain of events. Which one step in the entire thing is unexplained?

The answer to that question, or rather the question in question, is this question:

How did CNN find out that this POS bogus “Russian dossier” was part of the intelligence briefing?

I say that there is only one place for that information to come from, and that is the IC, the intelligence community. They would be the only ones to know the content of such an incredibly high-level briefing.

I also note where it was leaked, which was to CNN, or as it is known these days, the “Clinton News Network”. It got that name when the DNC emails revealed that CNN had dishonestly and secretly passed future debate questions to Hilary Clinton so she could appear to be quicker on her feet than the Trumpster.

So I would say that at the root of this is the leak from the intelligence community to CNN. Remember that the Donald’s motto seems to be, punch back twice as hard. And given that I am widely known on the web for the same failing, punching back twice as hard, I can only say one thing:

Intelligence agencies should never have allowed this fake news to “leak” into the public.

Last week, we wrote about how CIA boss John Brennan was trying to do a bit of history rewriting concerning the CIA’s spying on Senate staffers’ computers. As you may recall, when the allegations first came out, Brennan insisted:

“Let me assure you the CIA was in no way spying on [the Senate Intelligence Committee] or the Senate.”

Except, back in July, the CIA’s Inspector General put out a report that not only confirmed the story, but showed that the spying was even worse than initially detailed. At the time, Brennan apparently apologized to Feinstein, but things have heated up recently, after Brennan further refused to reveal to the Senate who authorized the spying.

Now Brennan is continuing to try to spin the story, angrily hitting back at the reports out there. First up, he tries to spin that quote above by claiming the context was different:

“This is part of the mischaracterizations. The Council on Foreign Relations, [moderator] Andrea Mitchell, said, did in fact CIA officers hack into the Senate computers to thwart the investigation on potential interrogation? Thwart the investigation, hacking in – no, we did not, and I said that’s beyond the scope of reason.”

But, no, what he actually said is that “the CIA was in no way spying on [the Senate Intelligence Committee] or the Senate.” It wasn’t about thwarting an investigation. He made a definitive statement about the spying. And that was a lie.
